My name is Mary Pottenger and I am a mental health counselor associate. I am also an Art Therapist and working on my art therapy credentials.

I have known I wanted to be therapist since middle school, but it took some time to get here. It took going to therapy myself and healing from things in my past to give me the courage to start my counseling degree.

Outwardly, it didn’t seem like my past experiences were related to my hesitancy of moving forward in my career. But once I resolved these things, I knew it was what had been holding me back.

My Mission…

I work with others who need help moving forward. I am experienced in addressing trauma, depression, anxiety, self-esteem and burnout. I work on both coping strategies and resolving underlying issues to decrease symptoms.

I believe that everyone is capable of change, we just need the right space, time, and environment to do it.

I pull from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and other modalities depending on each person’s specific needs. And of course, I also incorporate art as much as possible as it is both beneficial for coping and expressing difficult thoughts and emotions. Anyone can do art therapy, regardless of age and skill level! Of course, I recognize that not everything works for everyone so we will collaborate on a plan that works for you.

Please reach out to me if you would like more information on the services I provide.
